Living in the sunshine of southern Texas has been a dream come true! After living for 13 years in the upper plains of South Dakota with sometimes 7 months of snow, I appreciate the sun and warmth of coastal living.
One of the perks has been a much less depressing life during the traditional winter months. I used to suffer from SAD, seasonal affective disorder…in plain English, I was affected by too little sunshine, and ultimately low Vitamin D levels. It turns out that Vitamin D really isn’t a vitamin at all, but a potent neuro-regulatory steroidal hormone, that when found in decreased serum levels causes depression and lethargy.
We have known for a long time that Vitamin D worked wonders with bones…Vitamin D has been cited as helping with weight loss, and then it was discovered that Vitamin D levels had impact on cancer. A study by Dr. William Grant, Ph.D., internationally recognized research scientist and vitamin D expert, found that approximately 30% of cancer deaths– (2,000,000 worldwide and 200,000 in the United States)– could be prevented each year with higher levels of vitamin D.
It’s the great cancer cover-up. Panicked into avoiding sunlight by health experts, we are now dying in our thousands from diseases linked to deficiencies of vitamin D. But still the exaggerated warnings come. – Oliver Gillie– Sunarc.Org
Now it seems, that Vitamin D also provides some protection from Upper Respiratory Tract Infections….and with a lessening chance of picking up viral infections (which comes under the H1N1 Swine Flue threat).
Personally, after reading about the flu vaccines’ vague nature, possible danger, less than stellar field trials..etc..etc…I think I am leaning in favor of utilizing Vitamin D3 more effectively.
Of course, you know your health history better than any one…and maybe Vitamin D is not for you….research the subject..take control of your own best health practices….
That’s what we women need to do.
It’s time to make informed decisions…to own our own health care.
Look into Vitamin D….there are many great sites out there to look at. I enjoy Dr Mercola’s Health Newsletter, and he has propounded Vitamin D and sunlight as a health source for a long time. A mere 15 minutes of sunshine per day is enough to stimulate a health person’s ability to produce Vitamin D. If you can’t get outdoors during the winter seasons, find a good source of natural vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol).
Vitamin D deficiency is a growing concern across the world and is contributing to many chronic debilitating diseases. Go ahead and research various studies and sites that deal with health issues and make informed decisions.
Remember that A-Z Liquid Vitamins provide 400 iu of Vitamin D3 in every ounce. We are committed to promoting women’s health through education, information and our women vitamins product line.
